Speaking during the donation of flour at Chipini and Lisanjala Parishes on Friday, January 26, the Ordinary of the Diocese of Zomba, Rt. Rev. Alfred Chaima urged the beneficiaries to pray for the people who had put resources together towards the donation of the flour. Bishop Chaima also advised the beneficiaries to take good care of their fields to ensure food security at the end of the 2023–24 farming season. He further urged them to participate in the planting of trees as a way of restoring the glory of Mother Nature, which is in bad shape due to man’s actions. The Ordinary then appealed for further assistance from well-wishers to help the diocese reach out to more hunger victims. The beneficiaries have since expressed gratitude for the donation, narrating that most of them were going to bed with an empty stomach. The diocese of Zomba has reached out to over 400 beneficiaries with financial support from the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in the United States of America (USA) through the Apostolic Nunciature to Malawi and Zambia. Out of the 20 parishes in the Diocese, Chipini and Lisanjala are some of the Parishes that have been reached with some relief assistance after the Parishes of Mayaka, Pirimiti, and Lingoni.
